MAKING OF #MAZDASTUDENTCHALLENGE

Another week done and we are still going strong! This week has been all about the #Mazdastudentchallenge; planning the video, filming, editing, getting to know the car and brainstorming even more. I’ve got to say it again, it was great that Mazda gave us a Mazda2 to use during this project. It makes such a big difference when you know what you are “selling”. I might still not be a pro on all the technical details but I got a whole bunch of other great arguments I know are true after test driving the car.

The team having a morning coffee in the sun and getting ready to film!

I was impressed by how effortless the car is to drive. My daughter was more impressed over the beautiful red seats!

Friday is normally the best day of the week but this time it was a black day for our team…out Mazda Instagram account got removed!!! We had been publishing material for almost two weeks and had close to 500 followers. Even though the Instagram account wasn’t the main “thing” in our Mazda campaign it really really annoyed us. All the hard work blown away just like that. When we told Ilkka about this, he instantly saw the positive in it; it could’ve been your start-up company instead of a project and how we can learn from this. Is he really this positive all the time? :)

This week we had another session about networking with Chris Evatt and a lecture + mini project with Tapsa Marttala. Tapsa is a Laurea student who is currently studying in Sweden. He told us about his studies at SAE and what kind of attitude got him to where he is now. I think he should be proud of what he has accomplished so far. Even though I didn’t personally get so many useful tips from this lecture as I have from the others, it’s always great to see someone who has found their own “thing”.

Tapsa Marttala telling us his motto: Why not?

I’ve started doing a little notebook of this course. For me the easiest way to learn is when I write things down and see them visually. So from every lecture or session we’ve had I’ve written down the most interesting tips for me. Usually the fewer the better since I value quality over quantity. This notebook is something I know I will keep coming back to after this our course is over. I hope it will be a great mix of digital theory and lessons of life. I might not be ready to execute all the tips yet but I'm sure the time will come.
